Crookwell Heated Pool & hydrotherapy centre.

Crookwell Pool and hydrotherapy centre

Over recent years significant work has been undertaken by the local community on the proposal for a heated pool and hydrotherapy pool in Crookwell (see above). This work has included gauging community wants and needs, requesting Council and political support as well as having numerous plans for a proposal done before settling on a final plan (see below). Subsequently preliminary funding sources and grants have been sourced for the proposal.

Floor Plans

Council’s 355 Committee recently has basically ignored all this ongoing and extensive work that has been done by so many in the community, and at the last minute gone off on its own tangent, not consulted many of the stakeholders and those who have put significant work in so far and come up with a new proposal that ignores all of who and what has gone before and what the community has expressed it wanted.

If that wasn’t bad enough the 355 committee now has decided it also wants to eliminate the hydrotherapy pool despite the community wanting it.

As a result new community survey feedback has been undertaken in the last couple of weeks that shows the following;

HEATED POOL SURVEY SUMMARY RESULTS: 91% strongly support Heated Pool & Hydrotherapy; 6% strongly opposed.47% strongly support Heated Pool only; 22% would not support complex without hydrotherapy 61% definitely supported entry fee; 4% no.The above is based on 100 respondents to gauge current support.

You may recall Get Heated! had petitions out last year for a SMALL HEATED COMPLEX with LAP POOL & HYDROTHERAPY that was supported by 1300 signatures, letters and emails and presented to Council.

The Pool 355 Committee will be proposing HEATED LAP POOL ONLY at next Council Meeting in Gunning 21st November. Whilst this is better than nothing, it does not provide the solution that meets our current and future needs nor is it inclusive of over 25% of our population who would benefit from Hydrotherapy.

Are you happy to accept this???? If you support a HYDROTHERAPY POOL, please contact the following Councillors who are part of the Pool 355 Committee: council@upperlachlan.nsw.gov.au; pculhane.ulsc@live.com.au; pamkensit@gmail.com; PLEASE BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL.

BTW It is alleged the new proposal locates the buildings away from direct parking access, close to houses and away from the kids pool.
